Opportunities in the lab
We are recruiting PhD/MSc students, undergraduates and postdocs interested in evolutionary genomics and gene regulatory evolution. Our work is grounded in looking at evolutionary questions through genetics, but we welcome new ideas and fresh perspectives within this framework. Please email Katya Mack (katya.mack [at] ku.edu) to open a discussion!
For prospective graduate students
Prospective graduate students may apply through the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology graduate program (for M.A. or Ph.D.). The prospective student must identify a faculty mentor before applying. Prospective students for the Mack lab should contact Katya Mack via email before applying. Please include a CV or resume and a brief description of your research interests (and how they fit in with ours!). If you are admitted to the EEB program, the department provides full support for full time students through Teaching Assistantships for five years (PhD) or 2 years (Masters).
For prospective postdocs
To learn about potential postdoc opportunities, please email Katya Mack with a CV. Please include a short description of your research interests and how they would fit in with research in the lab. We are currently recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on an NIH-funded project.
While my ability to take postdocs outright can sometimes be limited by funding, there are currently also opportunities for funded postdoc positions at KU: the Postdoc Fellowship program through the KU Center for Genomics and a hybrid research/teaching postdoc fellowship through the KU/Haskell IRACDA. I am also happy to discuss writing a NSF PRFB or NIH NRSA if our interests align and you are eligible!
